This intensive CPD course will help you to understand how boards are structured, what they do, and how they work. You will gain an overview of Corporate Governance and key legal and regulatory compliance issues, as well as an understanding of risk management in practice.

We will give insight into strategic leadership, and will show the duties and responsibilities of the different directors, and will highlight some of the most common mistakes made, and how to avoid them.

We will also offer insight into effective meetings, assessing board performance, and importantly will also show how to ensure that your board remains sustainable, through development and succession planning.

Paul A. White, Dip Corp Gov, C Dir – Director – Governance Ireland

Paul A. White is a founding member of DCC Technology, he has held Board and Senior Executive roles for DCC Plc. within the ICT sector in France, the UK, and Ireland. He is currently employed as a Corporate Governance adviser with Governance Ireland Ltd.

Paul is a graduate of the postgraduate Diploma in Corporate Governance from UCD Michael Smurfit Business School, he has achieved Chartered Director (C Dir) status with the IOD (UK) He is a founder member of the Corporate Governance Association of Ireland (CGAI), a member of the Institute of Directors (Irl & UK), and the Institute of Management Consultants and Advisers (IMCA).

Paul is currently the Chair of the CMRF, the fundraising foundation of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin, a member the audit committee of the Office of the Attorney General and a Board Member and Audit Committee member of Tusla.

Paul has a significant track record of creating, building and developing strong, profitable and sustainable companies, with a rich skill set which includes Corporate Governance, Risk and Compliance, Strategy and Business development and delivery. Currently specialising in Board performance effectiveness and Corporate Governance services, he also has expertise as an exec and non-exec board member, corporate governance advisor, board effectiveness assessor, strategic planning, change leadership, succession planning, risk management, contract negotiation, business adviser and consultant.

Training Environment:

CMG Professional Training courses take place at our state-of-the-art training facility in the Apex Business Centre situated in the Beacon Quarter of Sandyford Industrial Estate, Dublin 18. The CMG Training Centre is accessible by the Luas, (Sandyford line, Stillorgan stop) several bus options and is close to the M50. There are a number of car parks within a three minute walk as well as a range of coffee shops including Starbucks as well as shops and restaurants nearby.

In order to maximize the learning experience, interaction and discussion, numbers are limited per course. A short course assessment may be required before completion.

Course Cost:

This course costs €395 (1st EARLY-BIRD), normal rate is €445. Includes course documentation and light refreshments. While the course fee does not include lunch, we do provide freshly made sandwiches, nespresso coffee and a range of teas and fresh juice for those who require a light lunch. Alternatively you can avail of the local food stores and coffee shops opposite the training centre for hot food or alternative lunch options.
