Evaluating Flood Risk Assessments

  • 5 Hours CPD Apex Building, Blackthorn Road, Sandyford Business District Dublin 18 (map)

This course will be delivered with the use of applied examples and case studies outlining the potential complexities that may be encountered when evaluating FRAs. This course will enable those involved in the review process to become an informed client / reviewer through having a firm understanding of the types of information available and potential sensibility checks which can be undertaken as part of a review process.

Attendees will gain an overview of the scope and content of the CFRAM Studies, outlining the potential advantages and pitfalls associated with the use of data outputs from these studies to inform FRAs. Attendees will gain an introduction to flood modelling techniques; types of hydraulic models, hydrological considerations, common pitfalls, 1D, 2D and 1D/2D modelling, as well as recent updates and their implications.

When you leave this course, you will be aware of the key policies and legislation relating to FRAs in Ireland, the level of information available, how flood modelling is carried out and what to consider when reviewing and evaluating FRAs. You will gain an opportunity to engage in informative Q&A’s, speak with other professionals working in your field, and leave with an informative course pack and 5 CPD points.
