Project Supervisor Design Process & Construction Stage

Current legislation, in particular the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013, imposes statutory duties on those responsible for construction projects, including the duty to appoint a Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) and all those involved in construction projects need to know the details of these roles to ensure they are carried out correctly. 

This CPD certified workshop will help enable those appointed as PSDP or PSCS to carry out their statutory duties with the necessary understanding and skills. This workshop will cover all the essential statutory duties and competences required of the project supervisor for the design and construction process, and will help you understand the key responsibilities of both roles. 

On completion of this workshop delegates will:    

  • Know the roles and responsibilities of all involved in Construction Projects and specifically the PSDP & PSCS

  • Know the requirements in respect of preparation of a safety plan and safety file

  • Understand the involvement of the PSDP throughout the project life cycle

Project Supervisor Design Process

  • Overview of the Safety Health & Welfare at Work Construction Regulations.

  • Legislation key principles- Competence, Principles of Prevention, Particular Risks.

  • Duties of Client, Designers and Project Supervisor Design Process

  • Co-ordination of designers and organising co-operation between designers

  • Use of Approved Codes of Practice

  • Designing for Safe Maintenance

  • Information requirements from Designers

  • The Preliminary Safety and Health Plan

  • Construction Stage PSDP duties

  • Coordination of the Design of Temporary Works

  • Preparation of Safety File by the PSDP

Project Supervisor Construction Stage

  • Legal overview including the 2005 Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act and 2013 Construction Regulations

  • Duties of the PSCS including contractor co-ordination

This workshop is relevant to all building professionals involved in the design, consultation or construction stages including contractors, owner operators, engineers, architects, designers, government / public bodies and semi-state agencies


On completion you will receive your CMG MasterClass Certificate as well as your CPD Certificate containing 6 Structured CPD Hours. Please note certificates are issued only at the close of the training course to participants who complete the full five hours.


This course costs €395 (Early-bird) normal rate is €425. Includes course documentation and light refreshments. While the course fee does not include lunch, we do provide freshly made sandwiches, coffee and a range of teas and fresh juice for those who require a light lunch. Alternatively you can avail of the local food stores and coffee shops opposite the training centre for hot food or alternative lunch options.
