Course Description

This one-day training course provides attendees with an insight into a number of different building defects, how they occur, what can be done to prevent them from occurring in the first place, and different remediation techniques.

Attendees will gain an opportunity to ask questions specific to them and their projects, will leave with a greater understanding of the unique aspects of different defects, the variables involved in the building process & their impact on building performance.

Course Content

• Asbestos, radon, pyrite and mica

• Condensation, mould growth and indoor air pollution

• Rising and penetrating damp  

• Timber defects including wet rot, dry rot and beetle infestation  

• Structural integrity including cracking and movement in foundations

• Drainage defects

• Fire safety and remediation measures

• Flood risk assessment

• Services safety  

• Japanese Knotweed

Who Should Attend?

This course will be of huge benefit to all in the construction sector with responsibility for avoiding or repairing construction defects, including engineers, contractors, architects, technical managers and those from local authorise and government department to name just a few.


On completion of this one-day training course, you will receive your Certificate of Attendance. Please note certificates are issued at the close of the training course to participants on completion of the course. Please check directly with your association or awarding body to see how many points they will award.
