The role of the Medical Secretary is an exceptionally important and challenging role. They are often the face of the clinic as they are the first port of call for patients on the phone or at the desk. The role comes with great responsibility and requires key skills that are not usually required in other sectors.
Medical secretaries are required to use their initiative, make decisions and be good in difficult situations dealing with patients, GP’s and other healthcare staff. There is an expected requirement for IT skills, customer service, time management and exceptional organisational skills.
