Patient Advocacy Training

  • 5 CPD Hours Apex Building, Blackthorn Road Sandyford Business District D18 (map)

Understand the Role of the Advocate, as well as Important Legal, Ethical and Professional Considerations

Health and social care services can be complex and confusing and sometimes patients and their families need some support and guidance through their healthcare experience. A good patient advocate will clearly represent and communicate the views of those seeking information or making complaints, however, patient advocacy is fraught with legal, ethical and professional difficulties, and that is why training is so essential.

This one-day CPD course will take you through the key issues involved in patient advocacy. We will discuss the many aspects of the role, as well as crucial factors to consider in issues such as quality of life, dignity, safe living environments, recognising or preventing abuse, as well as guidelines relating to patient complaints. This will be a hugely practical session, and there will be a Q & A session to ensure you get a chance to discuss issues specific to your current situation. You will also receive a full training course pack to refer back to at any time, which may prove an invaluable resource going forward in the role.
