Course Description

This course will examine the procedures involved in the sale / purchase of property, as well as the key steps in a conveyancing transaction. We will go through important title and registry information and will offer highly useful Law Society templates. The course will look at the importance of maps and boundaries, as well as important matters regarding leases, the key issues and how they can be resolved.

This intensive one-day course will offer guidance on how to recognise and avoid the traps and pitfalls associated with this area of practice and will supply real, practical and actionable advice from a legal professional with more than 20 years’ experience.

General overview of the conveyancing process

An overview of the stages involved from a sale being agreed to the sale closing to the registration of the title.

The definition and conversation around good and marketable title

Title and Registry

The difference between Land Registry titles and Registry of Deeds titles and the types of titles that can be registered in the Land Registry.

How titles are registered for the first time either by solicitors’ certificate or investigation of title by the land registry.

Registering a lease burden for leases for our 25-year leases

Certificates of Title   


The importance of maps, the conclusiveness of boundaries in the land registry and issues that can arise and how they can be rectified.

Leases – long term and freehold-

Long leases and how to convert them to freehold titles and when this is essential to have a good and marketable title.

Universal information about the purchase of a property or land

Pre-contract investigation of title (PCIT) system

On completion of this one-day training course, you will receive your Certificate of Attendance. Please note certificates are issued at the close of the training course to participants on completion of the course.
