Course Description

Capacity comes in all forms such as medical decisions, ability to live independently, managing finances, driving, fitness to work and sexual consent.

This practical workshop aims to increase your ability and confidence when and how to assess capacity. The objective of this training is for those dealing with these difficult decisions daily to recognise when you need to undertake a capacity assessment. How to recognise when a patient lacks capacity despite the best efforts to support their decision making. Understand when referral to a clinician is required and what to do when you are unable to obtain consent to medical treatment. You will be given case studies to analyse and evaluate the decisions made.

All attendees will get a chance to engage in an informative Q & A session, practical workshops, form filling guidance, and will receive a highly informative course pack, and leave with 5 structured CPD Points.

Who Should Attend?

This one-day training course is for anyone who is in a position within healthcare is taking care of vulnerable adults, adolescents, end of life care patients and children either in a hospital, nursing home, home care, general practice or social care setting.

Certification

On completion of this one-day training course, you will receive your CMG MasterClass Certificate of Attendance in Assessing Capacity. Please note certificates are issued at the close of the training course to participants on completion of the course. You will also receive a full Assessing Capacity course pack to refer back to at any time in the future. Please check directly with your association or awarding body to see how many points they will award.

 

Cost

This course costs €425 (Early Bird Version 2) normal rate is €495.This training course normal rate is €525. Places are limited and are allocated on a first come first served basis.
