Course Description

Capacity allows people to forge their own way in life. It allows everyone, for example, to make medical decisions, live independently, managing finances, drive, enter into contracts and consent to intimate relationships.

This practical workshop aims to increase your ability and confidence in understanding legal capacity. The objective of this training is for those dealing with difficult capacity issues daily, to recognise when there may be issues with capacity and to understand how best to proceed. You will learn how to support  decision-making and what steps need to be taken if legal capacity is in question.

This workshop will answer a number of questions, including who can assess capacity, the functional capacity test, how to deal with fluctuating cases, what to do when you are unable to obtain consent to medical treatment, important legal case studies and much more.

All attendees will get a chance to engage in an informative Q & A session, practical workshops, form filling guidance, and will receive highly informative course notes
