Michael has worked in the contaminated land industry for over 10 years in a number of roles including manufacturing, site assessment and characterisation, design of protection systems and on-site verification. He is an environmental engineer and director of GQA Environmental. Michael has in depth knowledge of best practice Irish and UK guidance and regulations. He has been working to effect change and reviews in our own technical guidance in Ireland over the last few years. Michael was a contributor and sat on the steering committees of the following best practice documents. • CIRIA C716: 2012 Remediating and mitigating risks from VOC vapours from land affected by contamination • CIRIA C735: 2014 Good practice on the testing and verification of protection systems for buildings against hazardous ground gases Michael has carried out bespoke training for local authority CIEH contaminated land officers and building control departments in Northern Ireland and has carried out consultation and advisory work for the EPA and DOE in Ireland. Michael lectures on contaminated land on the post graduate Environmental Engineering course at Trinity College, Dublin.
