Excel skill levels are usually defined by the type of tasks you can complete confidently rather than how long you have used the software. Beginner users typically focus on data entry, basic formatting and simple calculations. Intermediate users are comfortable working with formulas, organising data, using functions and managing spreadsheets with more structure. Advanced users work with large datasets, complex formulas, automation and data analysis tools.
Excel is widely used, but often in a limited way. Many users perform familiar tasks repeatedly without realising there are more efficient or structured approaches available, making it difficult to judge whether their skills go beyond a basic level.
Excel Level 2 focuses on developing stronger spreadsheet skills for managing data, formulas and everyday analysis tasks.
It builds beyond basic data entry and formatting to include more structured use of formulas and data handling.
Errors often arise from formula logic, inconsistent data or lack of structure as spreadsheets become more complex.
Stronger Excel skills support accuracy, efficiency and clearer reporting in routine business tasks.
This course examines intermediate Excel concepts and their application in workplace data management.
